My friend, Wendy, convinced me to submit a pastel portrait of her beloved grand-dog to a pet portrait contest sponsored by Dick Blick Art. It was my first pastel painting. I only had a few Nu Pastels and a gessoed masonite board so I just did a quick sketch from a photo taken last summer. Being a dedicated dog-grandma she fell in love with it, bought it and framed it. Now she wants to share her beloved Rigby with the world and wants you to vote for him. I do, too, so that I have a chance to win a prize from Blick’s.
Rigby wants votes. He is a worthy candidate posed near an American flag just like so many of the two-legged candidates that we’ll see more often than we want to in the coming months.
